Eltun are a pagan/black metal band from Santiago, Chile. The band take their name for the word "cemetery" in the Mapudungun, the indigenous language of the Mapuche people, native to the southern region of Chile. 1553 is their sophomore release. The EP is inspired by the first wave of the Arauco War, where the warriors Caupolicán and Lautaro led the Mapuche to victory against Spanish colonizer Pedro de Valdivia. Sonically, the band takes inspiration from Scandinavian bands, adapting the classic cold sounds of the north to the frigid winters of the Andes Mountains. Songs like "Bajan Con Antorchas" also incorporates the trompe, a traditional Mapuche jaw harp. This is music that is battle ready and aims for glory, with the band incapsulating the valiant spirit of their Mapuche ancestors and delivering power pagan black metal marching towards victory.

Tezcatlipoca are a Mexican black metal band from León, Guanajuato. This is their sophomore record. The band craft very dark and brooding black metal that sound like its coming from the deepest recesses of Mictlan. Additionally the band incorporate an array of pre-hispanic instruments into their music, from bird like flutes to the deep resonance of the conch shell. The band take their name from the Aztec god of the nigh sky, and all of their songs and lyrics are written in Nahuatl. Overall this is an impressive slab of black metal that embodies the war like spirit of the Mexica war tribes.

The band features members that are from Dharug aboriginal nations, and are unapologetically black and indigenous and at war with so called "Australia" and colonizers worldwide. This new record serves as a war cry, and is absolutely blood thirsty. The listener is bombarded with furious and violent barrages of grinding black metal that is seething with contempt for colonization and the havoc it wreaks to this very day. In a genre rife with meatheads and mediocrity, Dispossesed carve for themselves war metal with a fiery passion and intent that is stronger declaration of power and hate than any goat worshipping losers could ever muster. Each track is a bludgeoning of pounding ferocity and some top notch caveman blasting. Thematically, the band takes inspiration from mythology of the ancient Moche culture, which reign over east Peru from 100 CE - 800 CE. The band name is a combination of the verb for killing and dying int he Moche language.

Illapa are a black metal band from based out of Lima, Peru. They formed in 1993, and briefly went under the name Funeral Mist before changing their name. This is their debut album. The album features violent and evil black metal with a lot of interesting keyboard work. Though most of the album is standard blasphemic black metal fanfare, the first two songs lyrically focus on mythology of their Inca ancestors. The album cover also features two hechiceros, the name of brujos from the Andes region.

Resistant Culture are a grindcore band. Originally from LA but now situated in Seattle, the band formed in 2003, raising from the ashes of Resistant Militia. The band's founding members are indigenous descended, and they incorporate native flutes, drums, and chants into their ripping grindcrust, and preach a message of Native American rights, environmentalism, anarchism, and anti-colonialism. This debut album is a bombardment of grinding crust metal, fitting 16 furious tracks in a mere 31 minutes. Metalheads and punks alike will finding something to love about this record.

Biipiigwan are a sludge metal band from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This is their debut EP. The band is fronted by Musqwaunquot "Musky" Rice, a Ojibwe Anishinaabe First Nations man, and the band takes their name from the Anishinaabemowin word for "war whistle". The title of this EP translates loosely to "wake up!". The lyrics revolve around traditional teachings and the oppressive systems of colonial governments. Musically, the band's brand of sludge is an all out colossal onslaught, teeming with heavy and powerful riffs that come down on your skull like a mammoth stampede. The band flavors these monolithic dirges with dissonant leads that are more devastating than anything any band from the American south has ever conjured. Across the three songs on this EP Biipiigwan solidify their place in the modern sludge scene, and in my opinion could easily claim throne.
